The Area
The Expanse stands on North Marine Drive overlooking North Beach – a 1937 Art Deco landmark and one of Bridlington’s best-known seafront buildings. From the front door you can step out onto the promenade, head down to the sands or stroll along the seafront towards the harbour and town centre.
Bridlington Harbour is a working fishing harbour, lovely for an evening wander or fish and chips by the water, while a little further inland the historic Old Town has independent shops, cafés and characterful streets to explore. Sewerby Hall and Gardens, set on the clifftops just north of town, is a popular day out for families.
Nature lovers will enjoy the dramatic chalk cliffs around Flamborough Head, with clifftop walks and lighthouse views, and in spring and summer RSPB Bempton Cliffs is home to thousands of nesting seabirds, sometimes including puffins. Add in coastal walks, beaches and seaside outings, and there’s plenty to fill your days at your own pace.
Whether you’re planning beach days with the family or a relaxing break with friends, The Counting House offers a comfortable base on the Yorkshire coast. The wider Expanse building is being renovated gradually, while the apartments stay open for guests as usual. Discover more places to stay in the town on our Accommodation in Bridlington page.
